Spring is finally here in Los Angeles. Although the weather has been sunny and nice lately, I still get chilly easily from the cool breezes the city gets once the evening falls. My favorite jacket that I have been wearing almost every day is this denim one by Shein.com. I was so happy to be able to collaborate with them, since they have such a wide variety of styles and selection. The shopping experience on the website was simple and delightful. Best of all, Shein provides free standard shipping with no minimum which is always a plus in my online shopping. :]

This denim jacket has the cutest patches on the sleeves and back. The patches says, “NYC”, “BLACKHOLE”, “1987”, and on the back, it says, “Where is my mind?” In my perspective, it gives a very street and urban feel without overdoing it.

“Where is my mind?”

The denim jacket is a boyfriend style jacket that reminds me of the 90’s which I love. The metal buttons are easy to handle, but I usually prefer wearing this denim jacket open with a graphic tee. The choker is by Creepyha from New York, and my rings are from random vendors in the streets of the Fashion District of Los Angeles.

Shein Denim Jacket

I like wearing my denim jacket with a wide variety of outfits from dresses, to jeans, tees, and shorts. It goes with almost anything and automatically brings edginess to the look. In this outfit of the day, I arranged a white top, strappy black bra, black pleather shorts and cap, with white Converse. I was in a very casual mood for the day; I’m kind of sick of wearing heels lately. Lastly, you can’t forget your shades in sunny California. These shades are cat eyed, with blue reflective lenses.

A white blouse is definitely a tricky color to wear, especially in photos or film. Many individuals like to avoid it since it can make you appear a bit larger than your true size, but white is very versatile and has many personalities.

Wearing a White Blouse

I actually love wearing white since it has endless faces to it, depending on how you style it. On the top of my head, white can be graceful, clean, edgy, pure, beautiful, calm, and sleek.

In this look, I collaborated with Alli K Clothing. Allison (the owner) is extremely kind and it was delightful working with her. I’m wearing a blouse from the Alli K Clothing 2015 Fall Collection. It is extremely comfortable and the oversized design feels very ethereal. It is a double layer white blouse that has a shorter outer layer that swoops up on the back. The back design is semi see-through, which slightly reveals my figure. I love the fit long sleeves which place comfortably on my skin.

The hairstyle I have for this look is my current favorite way of doing my hair. It is slightly wavy, tied in a low profile pony tail. I like to leave the fly away strands on the sides to help give that free look.

For the pants, I’m wearing H&M , and Zara boots. I love these black pants with the Margot shirt because it adds texture (there are ribbed designs on the front thigh area) which balances the clean Margot shirt.

On this day of the shoot, I got to work with Ryan Chua in Melrose Place.I love working with him also because he is simply a pleasant and charming person to be around. I feel like we can both be dorky about all kinds of topics and go around laughing at each other. He is always a joker, which is always a plus in my book. :]

Skater Dress by Black Milk Underwater Photoshoot

“Gleaming scales on a fish…”

Underwater photoshoots are just my new thing. Photoshoots are always enjoyable, but it is extremely gratifying to find something new, interesting, and fun. I can assure you, every single underwater photoshoot is challenging. I recently did another shoot with Reuben Reynoso (IG: @ReynosoPhotography) for Black Milk Clothing.

The dress I wore is called the Mermaid Skater Dress and it was so beautifully shiny. The design was definitely inspired by the gleaming scales on a fish. Underwater, the “scales” of the dress would glisten through the ripples of sunlight which gave a beautiful glow. The dress was a perfect fit and surprisingly, extremely comfortable.

You can find the dress here: https://blackmilkclothing.com/products/mermaid-straps-skater-dress

“Danger of lacking too much oxygen…”

I’m not too sure why, but I felt extremely tired and exhausted after this shoot. I was thinking that I probably pushed myself farther than my first underwater shoot because I was excited and knew what to do. My manager was saying I was staying underwater longer than the first time I shot with Reuben. I always had a bad habit of pushing myself with everything I do. Maybe this time around, it was a bad idea since there is a danger of lacking too much oxygen. I just need to remember to be more careful! From pushing too much, I ended up swallowing some water and thus, ingested some chlorine. I felt very sick and nauseated after the shoot and had to call off work at my other job. Also, on the way home, my vision was cloudy (probably from having my eyes open under chlorine water for over 3 hours). But no worries, the next day my vision was completely fine!

Ion Swimmer’s Shampoo is a MUST!

“Protect bleached hair from turning green!”

“100% Vegan Protectant”

One more thing I must say. If you are blonde or have color treated hair (especially bleached), it is crucial to use a protectant for your hair. If I jumped in a pool of chlorine water, my blonde hair would turn green (yes, it has happened before!). Before I do underwater photoshoots, I wash my hair in Ion Swimmer’s Shampoo and Conditioner (you can find it at Sally’s Beauty Supply or Amazon.com). I love this line because it protects my bleached hair from sun and chlorine damage, turning green, and as a plus, it is 100% vegan! So after washing my hair and using Ion Swimmer’s Shampoo and Conditioner, I clip it up without drying it, get my make-up done, and jump in the pool with Reuben to create awesome photos. 😀

Hot Otaku Fest 2015 – AX

Otaku Fest 2015!!! #AnimeExpo

I must say, sometimes Japanese animation or Tokyo Street Fashion influences my fashion sense. Fashion is certainly one of my favorite ways to express myself. These photos were taken about a year ago but it is still one of my favorite photo shoots. The colors are fun, the mood is spunky, and it is daringly sexy. Just like some Japanese animations…..

Just a Manga Girl with Geeky Glasses

One of my first part-time jobs during high school was actually a cashier and sales associate in an animation toy store that sold everything related to Japanese animation. It was definitely one of my favorite jobs (lol). I wore thick, black framed glasses and did nothing but work, did my homework, played Final Fantasy, and watch anime (lol)…

Anyone bought their ticket for the Anime Expo (aka AX) yet? I already bought mine! AX is the largest Anime Convention held in the United States with about 86,000 attendants.  Yes, if you ever wondered, I am a nerd… This year’s AX has many special guests such as voice actors, cosplay professionals, manga /anime creators, musicians, and many more. I would certainly love to meet Tomoyo Kurosawa, Vampy Bit Me, WagakkiBand, and must I go on?

I look forward to attending the CrunchyRoll Industry Panel, masquerades, DragonBall Z: Resurrection “F” Panel, Gundum Model Builiding, FUNimation Industry Panel, and multiple manga panels.

One factor I love about AnimeExpo or other anime conventions is that everyone who attends are very appreciative to be there; attendees seem to always make the most of it. It’s exciting to see attendees cosplay because in a way, it is courageous to show what you love and simply be proud of it, especially if it is not considered common. What’s so phenomenal about it is, in a way, everyone is connected through their common interests at the convention, including myself.

Here’s a video on 2014’s AX

Crocheted Tops Will Make you Drop

Now that summer is creeping up and so is the temperature, crocheted tops and printed jersey pants are one of my top summer picks. After my first experience at Coachella 2015, I fell in love with the crocheted look because of the festive summer vibe it gives. Another reason why I love this look is because it is airy (my body can breathe!) without being too exposed. At the same time, it is dauntless with the perfect touch of sexiness from my pointed, black heels. Lastly, as a must, it is comfortable. So there is no pain to gain…

I also like to wear sandals with this outfit if I know I will be walking throughout the day. I wore this outfit on my way to this photoshoot because it’s so easy to move around in. Luckily I did… When I met up with K.C. Nekro to shoot, it was a Sunday, meaning the main entrance to the location was locked! I had to climb up 5 stories on a ladder from the fire escape to reach the roof top patio! Even though I work out at least 3 times a week (running a mile as a warm up), I have to admit, it made me realize I may need to add more cardio and endurance training to my workout (lol). I was breathing heavily with the need to catch my breath before the shoot.

During the shoot, K.C. and I learned that we had a lot in common. We’re both ridiculous fans of Japanese animation (Furi Kuri aka Fooly Cooly was our main anime discussed), love mellow lounge music, talked about different types of photography, and discussed about trying to make it and what it means to make it in the concrete jungle of Los Angeles.
