Why Every Girl Needs a Maxi Dress

I think that every girl should have a maxi dress in their closet. I like to wear them because they are comfortable, ethereal, flattering, and transitional between seasons. Since my maxi dress worn in the photo does not have a v-neck (which shows a little skin and tricks the eyes into seeing a taller figure), I added a simple long necklace to help guide the eyes in a vertical manner and thus, is a little trick to a taller figure.

for any Season

Maxi dresses can be transitional through seasons simply depending on how you wear it. For the summer, you can wear it as is with a cute pair of open-toe heels/wedges, sandals, or even sneakers (dress it up or down). As for the transition into fall, I would pair my black maxi dress with booties and a long cardigan or sweater.

for Short Girls

If you’re petite, maxi dresses can be a bit tricky because there’s a possibility of looking like tent. When I shop for one a maxi dress, I make sure the upper body is form fitting or at least accentuates the waist area. Also, it’s a bonus if the dress shows the figure on the thigh area. In this way, you won’t look stubby or heavier than your actual figure. If the maxi dress does not accentuate the waist, I would highly suggest a belt to show some curves.

One last aspect of maxi dresses I love is the ethereal feeling it gives, especially when the wind blows. I secretly feel prettier whenever the wind catches my long dress…

Hot Otaku Fest 2015 – AX

Otaku Fest 2015!!! #AnimeExpo

I must say, sometimes Japanese animation or Tokyo Street Fashion influences my fashion sense. Fashion is certainly one of my favorite ways to express myself. These photos were taken about a year ago but it is still one of my favorite photo shoots. The colors are fun, the mood is spunky, and it is daringly sexy. Just like some Japanese animations…..

Just a Manga Girl with Geeky Glasses

One of my first part-time jobs during high school was actually a cashier and sales associate in an animation toy store that sold everything related to Japanese animation. It was definitely one of my favorite jobs (lol). I wore thick, black framed glasses and did nothing but work, did my homework, played Final Fantasy, and watch anime (lol)…

Anyone bought their ticket for the Anime Expo (aka AX) yet? I already bought mine! AX is the largest Anime Convention held in the United States with about 86,000 attendants.  Yes, if you ever wondered, I am a nerd… This year’s AX has many special guests such as voice actors, cosplay professionals, manga /anime creators, musicians, and many more. I would certainly love to meet Tomoyo Kurosawa, Vampy Bit Me, WagakkiBand, and must I go on?

I look forward to attending the CrunchyRoll Industry Panel, masquerades, DragonBall Z: Resurrection “F” Panel, Gundum Model Builiding, FUNimation Industry Panel, and multiple manga panels.

One factor I love about AnimeExpo or other anime conventions is that everyone who attends are very appreciative to be there; attendees seem to always make the most of it. It’s exciting to see attendees cosplay because in a way, it is courageous to show what you love and simply be proud of it, especially if it is not considered common. What’s so phenomenal about it is, in a way, everyone is connected through their common interests at the convention, including myself.

Here’s a video on 2014’s AX

Crocheted Tops Will Make you Drop

Now that summer is creeping up and so is the temperature, crocheted tops and printed jersey pants are one of my top summer picks. After my first experience at Coachella 2015, I fell in love with the crocheted look because of the festive summer vibe it gives. Another reason why I love this look is because it is airy (my body can breathe!) without being too exposed. At the same time, it is dauntless with the perfect touch of sexiness from my pointed, black heels. Lastly, as a must, it is comfortable. So there is no pain to gain…

I also like to wear sandals with this outfit if I know I will be walking throughout the day. I wore this outfit on my way to this photoshoot because it’s so easy to move around in. Luckily I did… When I met up with K.C. Nekro to shoot, it was a Sunday, meaning the main entrance to the location was locked! I had to climb up 5 stories on a ladder from the fire escape to reach the roof top patio! Even though I work out at least 3 times a week (running a mile as a warm up), I have to admit, it made me realize I may need to add more cardio and endurance training to my workout (lol). I was breathing heavily with the need to catch my breath before the shoot.

During the shoot, K.C. and I learned that we had a lot in common. We’re both ridiculous fans of Japanese animation (Furi Kuri aka Fooly Cooly was our main anime discussed), love mellow lounge music, talked about different types of photography, and discussed about trying to make it and what it means to make it in the concrete jungle of Los Angeles.
