Classy Black Lace Dress for Fall

 Sexy, Classy Lace

YukiBomb Black Lace Dress

Fall is here but it’s still too hot to wear sweaters and jeans. I love this black lace dress because it is easy to wear, breathable, and absolutely pretty. When I wear this dress, I feel like a classy lady and should be well-composed and graceful.

DRESS ELEGANTLY AND MODESTLY

Black Lace Dress

The great thing about black lace dresses like the one I am wearing is that it is an effortless piece. I have worn this dress with heels and flats and feel that no matter what you wear with it, it will look great. I bought this dress in a boutique somewhere in DTLA (I don’t remember! Sorry!!) As time passes, I feel that I find myself being attracted to more modest yet textured pieces. It is fun to dress crazily sometimes, but dressing lady-like can make you feel pretty. Whimsicality in lace dresses is the best of my interest within this category. It is a material that moderates your look, but the color of black is always bold and mysterious.

Depending on how you wear this dress, it is definitely a piece that is appropriate for many events such as weddings, reunions, parties, dinners, and much more. I have worn this dress to Beauty Con, dinner, and a get together. The open back is a subtle detail that exposes the back vertically and was the eye- catching point for me. The lace makes me feel elegant, the black color feels mysterious, and the open back makes me feel sexy.

SEXY BACK

I feel that the best way to be sexy is doing so moderately. I love dressing elegantly and modestly with a touch of sexiness, which is why this is one of my favorite dresses. I love the black because it gives a vibe that a woman can stand up for herself with dignity.

SOME ADVICE: STAND UP FOR YOURSELF WITH DIGNITY

Black Lace Dress

Being refined and considerate does not at all mean being a push-over or voicing sentiments that are not your own. On the off chance that your suppositions may be excessively forceful or may be appalling, don’t lie, however change the theme to something else. In the event that somebody asks an audacious inquiry, don’t feel obliged to reply – make a joke, or try to turn the inquiry around.

When you support yourself, express your case without turning to verbally abusing or getting excessively enthusiastic.

A white blouse is definitely a tricky color to wear, especially in photos or film. Many individuals like to avoid it since it can make you appear a bit larger than your true size, but white is very versatile and has many personalities.

I actually love wearing white since it has endless faces to it, depending on how you style it. On the top of my head, white can be graceful, clean, edgy, pure, beautiful, calm, and sleek.

In this look, I collaborated with Alli K Clothing. Allison (the owner) is extremely kind and it was delightful working with her. I’m wearing a blouse from the Alli K Clothing 2015 Fall Collection. It is extremely comfortable and the oversized design feels very ethereal. It is a double layer white blouse that has a shorter outer layer that swoops up on the back. The back design is semi see-through, which slightly reveals my figure. I love the fit long sleeves which place comfortably on my skin.

The hairstyle I have for this look is my current favorite way of doing my hair. It is slightly wavy, tied in a low profile pony tail. I like to leave the fly away strands on the sides to help give that free look.

For the pants, I’m wearing H&M , and Zara boots. I love these black pants with the Margot shirt because it adds texture (there are ribbed designs on the front thigh area) which balances the clean Margot shirt.

Crop Top Outfit – LA Streetstyle

ROCKING A CROP TOP OUTFIT FOR FALL

If you are worried about crop tops going out of season, there is nothing to be worried about. Just like the 70s inspiration continuing to trickle into the fashion scene, crop tops are still going to be around. Since it is still unbelievably hot in Los Angeles, crop tops help me breathe a little better. Plus, showing a little midriff can be sexy in without overdoing it.

COUPLE YOUR CROP TOP WITH A JACKET

Wearing crop tops during fall is just as easy as wearing them during the spring or summer. Adding on a jacket completely changes the look.

WORK IT WITH HIGH-WASTED ANYTHING

I absolutely love wearing high-wasted skirts, pants, or shorts. The reason why high-wasted shorts or pants are my favorite bottoms is because it gives the illusion of elongating your legs (for pants) and a thinner waist.

HIDE THE EXTRA LOVE…

Also, if you have not been disciplined with your diet, high-wasted bottoms will easily hide any bulge. So, a crop top, high-wasted bottoms and a jacket will easily take eyes off the extra love by centering the eyes on your midriff rather than the lower tummy. :]

ROCK A CROPPED SWEATER

If you are not sure about layering a crop top, you can always rock a cropped sweater. Cropped sweaters are just as versatile but less work since you don’t have to worry about layers or arrangement.

When I was growing up, I was extremely shy about showing skin. I was the type to wear jeans when it was 100 degrees outside. I was even shy wearing sleeveless blouses. I did not wear shorts or tank tops until I reached the age of 17. Even then, I was still quite conservative for a teenager.

Depending on how you dress yourself, showing skin is not always a bad thing. I believe feeling sexy is an achievement for one ’s self-esteem, as long as you keep self-respect in mind.

Tips to Transition Summer to Fall Fashion

Summer to fall fashion already? Although it is still hot and super sunny in California, fall fell right into place. If you are a busy bee, it is very helpful to find a way to transition your summer wardrobe to fall fashion.

“TRANSITIONING FROM SUMMER TO FALL FASHION”

Keep Your Maxi Dresses and Summer Skirts

Before you stow away your maxi dresses and summer skirts, you can still use them for summer to fall fashion. Simply add a belt and long sleeves (such as a sweater, cardigan, or jacket). I like to wear sweaters over my skirts and dresses.

Add Tights

Adding tights to your dresses or even shorts is a way of soft transition. If the weather is still hot where you live, pick out thin tights or lacy ones.

Layer Up

This is pretty self-explanatory but layer up! Add a sweater, jacket, leggings, cardigan, scarf, etc. to add to your fall look. I usually like to add flannels to my tanks or even rompers. Fedora hats are also one of my favorite accessories to add.

Invest in a Statement Making Jacket

Jackets are a must for fall, especially for summer to fall fashion. From military style to blazers, jackets and other toppers are one of my favorite pieces to add. Depending on how you style an outfit, jackets are usually the main focus of an outfit. So do not be afraid to wear something bold. You can pair a jacket with one of your lighter summer tops.

Add Deeper Colors

One of my favorite things about fall fashion is the rich and deep colors that are usually used. Deep colors can add a mysterious vibe to your look, so it’s always fun to play with harmonizing different deep colors. If you are not sure on what colors match, it is always safe to be monochromatic. Monochrome is always sleek and chic.

Buy Boots

Boots are a must for fall. They are a staple and easily make your summer outfits ready for fall. I usually like to wear boots with my floral skirts for an easy season transition. Boots are perfect since you can just add them to almost anything.

In this photo shoot, I opened up my closet and chose random pieces. This shoot took place in Old Town Pasadena. It’s always fun to mix things up. :]

Back to School

Back to School – New Classes, New Friends, New Clothes, NEW YOU

Going back to school is always extremely exciting, since it’s like a restart button on a video game of school life. Back to school in high school is fun because there’s new and familiar faces. In that case, it is fun to see people changing their styles around you, looking at first impressions, and new clothes. I loved dressing up, customizing my clothes, but comfort was always (and still is) very important to me. I feel that fashion is a creative outlet of expressing one’s self. So of course, back to school style was super important, especially that first impression of a new you.

New Clothes, NEW YOU

First Day Ensemble

When I was in high school, I was pretty nerdy. I loved anime (still do) but I loved music and fashion. I was on the volleyball team, chess club, math club, business club, karate club, and president of the knitting club (lol).

Work Around Your Dress Code

I remember always being limited and restricted by dress codes up to high school. I never really wanted to show skin, but I wanted to wear tanks, hats, open toed shoes, spikey accessories, destroyed-looking clothes. I noticed that being the well behaved student that I was, I kind of got away with minimal ripped clothes (lol). Also, you can always hide what you are wearing with a cardigan, jacket, or cover up.

New School Year, New Clothes, New You

Get Away from Dress Codes

I think going back to school as a college student is more fun, since you have absolute freedom in fashion. Also, each time you go back to school, you get to meet new people. I know sometimes college can be a little intimidating and you feel a strange competition in the air, but it might just be your imagination. One tip I always given to students in college is that try to be open-minded, respectful, and friendly. Once you can do that, you would be surprised by how many people would open to you. During my first two years of college, I did not care to make friends because I was so focused on studying. I realized later that it was the time to make friends and that college is about balancing yourself. Balancing homework, work, free-time, discipline, and hang outs is what you learn to do in college.

New Classes, New clothes, NEW YOU

More Fashion Freedom in College

In this look, I’m wearing a tank that was given to me, a button up to cover up, denim shorts, a cap, Nike sneakers, and Marc Jacobs backpack. I like being sporty at school because it is super comfortable. I would not want to wear something troublesome or uncomfortable from 8am-6pm.

Tips for Underwater Photography

Underwater Photography Techniques for Beginners

Beginner Underwater Photoshoot

This photo shoot was one of my favorite photo shoots of all time. I had the honor of shooting beautiful hand-made jewelry and flower head-pieces by Cosmik Souls. The most exciting part of it was that it was underwater and I am clearly a beginner.

Reuben Reynoso who specializes in underwater photography,  had contacted me on Instagram and asked if I would be interested. I looked over his portfolio and was amazed by his beautiful work so of course, I was ecstatic to work with him.

On the day of the shoot, I was pretty nervous since it was my first time shooting underwater. Everyone on the team was very comforting and supportive. Instructions were clear, but still scary.

Underwater Photography Techniques for Beginners

Research & Plan

It is best if you look over poses before going under water. Since the environment is completely different, it is harder to concentrate on your look. I researched many graceful underwater shoots to analyze the model’s body and especially their expression. Since it is uncomfortable to be holding your breath, it is important to keep a calm face for the camera.

Rehearse

I was actually not able to rehearse very much since the flower head piece was hand-made and not suitable for underwater. If possible, rehearsing would be ideal in order to get used to the temperature, environment, and photographer.

Communication

Communication was simple for this shoot, since it was shot in a pool. We used hand signals before going down since breathing is crucial before going under. Make sure to understand your photographer’s signals and clarify anything before shooting. Never be afraid to ask questions or even repeat a question.

On Sinking & Floating

The most important things before going under:

  1. Take 3 deep breaths
  2. Exhale all the air out
  3. Then dive!

The 3 deep breaths allow oxygen into my blood stream and exhaling allows me to sink under water. If you want to float slightly, on the last breath out, exhale about half of your air before going down.

Staying Still/Moving for Shots Will Be Tricky

I had to remember to keep my toes pointed, arch my back, let my white choker/scarf flow and on top of that, I am not able to breathe (lol). Also, underwater photography environment tricky, so analyze where the lighting hits so you can point your face towards the lighting to have a good shot.

I did a few shots with the flower headpiece then after, we shot without it. It was definitely a lot easier without the flower piece. The flower piece kept floating up, so it was difficult to have it in place. Underwater, I felt kind of graceful. When I was down under, I pretended I was an underwater fairy or a mermaid. Maybe one day I can switch places with Ariel, from “The Little Mermaid” (lol).

Have Extra Hands

If possible, the photoshoot is much easier with extra hands. Other than the photographer and myself, there was a photographer assistant, makeup artist, and my manager. The makeup artist was very helpful in adjusting the flower headpiece and touching up make up. An assistant is definitely crucial if your underwater shoot is deeper than a regular pool (for the model’s safety).

Shoot Fast or Get Cold

If you are not shooting in the tropical, the human body can become cold when submerged underwater for a long period of time. Although the photoshoot took place in sunny California and in the middle of July, I became cold after 30 minutes. The shoot becomes unpleasant once you become cold so be quick!

Personal Experience

I have been doing photo shoots since I was 18 years old. I did not like calling myself a “model” before because I was always afraid my peers would judge me; I was afraid people would view me as conceited or “full of it”. So, for years, I hid the fact that I modeled. I also lied to my friends every once in a while because whenever I had something exciting coming into place for myself, people would want to spend time with me because of what I did and not for who I was. Even my best friend at the time judged what I did. She made side remarks like back-handed compliments. I realized now, people who truly care about you would not do that. I should be proud about what I do, because it is a part of me.

“Gleaming scales on a fish…”

Underwater photoshoots are just my new thing. Photoshoots are always enjoyable, but it is extremely gratifying to find something new, interesting, and fun. I can assure you, every single underwater photoshoot is challenging. I recently did another shoot with Reuben Reynoso (IG: @ReynosoPhotography) for Black Milk Clothing.

The dress I wore is called the Mermaid Skater Dress and it was so beautifully shiny. The design was definitely inspired by the gleaming scales on a fish. Underwater, the “scales” of the dress would glisten through the ripples of sunlight which gave a beautiful glow. The dress was a perfect fit and surprisingly, extremely comfortable.

“Danger of lacking too much oxygen…”

I’m not too sure why, but I felt extremely tired and exhausted after this shoot. I was thinking that I probably pushed myself farther than my first underwater shoot because I was excited and knew what to do. My manager was saying I was staying underwater longer than the first time I shot with Reuben. I always had a bad habit of pushing myself with everything I do. Maybe this time around, it was a bad idea since there is a danger of lacking too much oxygen. I just need to remember to be more careful! From pushing too much, I ended up swallowing some water and thus, ingested some chlorine. I felt very sick and nauseated after the shoot and had to call off work at my other job. Also, on the way home, my vision was cloudy (probably from having my eyes open under chlorine water for over 3 hours). But no worries, the next day my vision was completely fine!

Ion Swimmer’s Shampoo is a MUST!

“Protect bleached hair from turning green!”

“100% Vegan Protectant”

One more thing I must say. If you are blonde or have color treated hair (especially bleached), it is crucial to use a protectant for your hair. If I jumped in a pool of chlorine water, my blonde hair would turn green (yes, it has happened before!). Before I do underwater photoshoots, I wash my hair in Ion Swimmer’s Shampoo and Conditioner (you can find it at Sally’s Beauty Supply or Amazon.com). I love this line because it protects my bleached hair from sun and chlorine damage, turning green, and as a plus, it is 100% vegan! So after washing my hair and using Ion Swimmer’s Shampoo and Conditioner, I clip it up without drying it, get my make-up done, and jump in the pool with Reuben to create awesome photos. 😀

How to “Build A Character” from VidCon 2015

This past weekend, was my very first time attending VidCon! As we all know, online videos especially on YouTube, is the new staple of online media platforms.

Many YouTube users like me create channels but the first thing we ask ourselves is, “What should I post? What sort of video should I make?” My Youtube Channel is YukiBombOfficial but I have not uploaded any major videos onto my channel. There was one panel that I thought was very helpful for people starting off on YouTube. The panel was called “Building a Character” and it was hosted by comical Buzzfeed YouTube Stars such as Ella Mielniczenko, Ashly Perez, Quinta Brunson, Sara Rubin, and Eugene Yang. I want to share what I learned from this panel.

Vidcon 2015 ... Yutube Celebrities ... Youtube Career

Building A Character Panel

“Starting Out”

First is “Starting Out”. The first thing to do when building your character is simply starting with yourself. Think about yourself and how you describe yourself. Begin with broad archetypes and add as you go. For example, you can ask yourself, “Am I an introvert or extrovert?” Anything new is “nerve-racking” and takes courage to start and move forward.

“Refining a Character”

Second is “Refining a Character”. Once you have a base character for yourself, you can refine it and make it come to life. For example, what is the worst case scenario for an awkward and weird girl? When you cannot think about a situation to start with, think about a funny conversation you had with friends. Another crucial tip is after making a video, look at the comments and learn from it.

“Building a World”

Third is “Building a World”. A place creates characteristics and elements that a character can use including culture. Having a friend with you or audience also creates characteristics. For example, the television show, “Zack and Cody” takes place on a ship so the environment is part of a character. Culture also intertwines with character because you can use what is around you. Ask yourself, “How are the viewers responding?”

“Considering the Audience”

Fourth is “Considering the Audience”. Who are you relating to? Someone out there relates to you, what you do, and what you feel. As you realize that relatability, you have a responsibility to keep it consistent. Through that responsibility, build faith and integrity for your audience. Also keep in mind of your character when reacting to social media. By doing so, you’re still being true to your character.

“Building Across Social Platforms”

Last is “Building Across Social Platforms”. As your personality is developed, you get to see what works. There are three crucial points to this last section of building character.

  • Consistency of character across platforms (Twitter, Facebook, Snapchat, Instagram, etc.)
  • Diversify format across platforms.
    • Snapchat Teaser, Twitter alert, Facebook photo, Use a different photo for Instagram
  • Frequency – the audience wants to hear more from you so you need to continue posting content.

“Am I the only one to think this?”

Also, a character should not be afraid to be oneself. Thoughts like, “Am I the only one to think this?” are probably the best ideas because it takes courage to represent what you are thinking. Don’t be afraid of giving more of yourself on social media. Viewers are watching you because they like you or relate to you.

Here’s a little video of a live performance by MadMoni on Awesomeness TV Stage over in VidCon. It takes a lot of courage to build character and represent it confidently. :]

Last Saturday, July 11th, I attended BeautyCon LA. I had an amazing time there, but unfortunately I was not able to Periscope (my user name is @OgYukiBomb). When I arrived around 11:45am, the traffic was crazy, weather was warm, and the location was already crowded. Luckily, I was able to skip the long line because I was under “press” for LA18 (and I am extremely grateful for it). Although I was part of press, I still waited in a very congested crowd of cranky attendees.

After the mission to get inside, BeautyCon LA was like a fantasy land for girls. There were so many photo booths, panels, displays, giveaways, and more.

Another memorable booth was the Nike booth. There was a line to take a photo with the angel wings made of Nike shoes for a good reason. While I was in line, I wanted to take pictures of the angel wings without me. So I asked a cute girl at the con to take one for me. She was really sweet and nice about it. Her Instagram is @CrystalyLiu :] Once a person took their picture, they just need to upload it to social media, tag #NikeWomen then show it to a Nike representative. In return, you can choose from a selection of a giveaway. I chose the earrings. :p

The Platform ... Minnie Mouse Ears ... Inflatable Donuts ... Beauty Con LA ... Fantasy Land for Girls

I love donuts! I really do…

Another section I really enjoyed was The Platform. It was a nice little space to take pictures and every hour there was a panel. A really cute one was to make your own Minnie Mouse ears. Next to The Platform, there were inflatable props to take pictures with. Of course, I chose the donut. :]

What do you guys think of the con? I think it was definitely worth the wait to explore these little fun events. :] It is also a great way to meet new people. <3

My First Style Session with Emily Tangerine

My First Style Session – Tangerine Tuesday

In my family, I was always known as the visual artist and as I became older, my family always asked me for fashion or clothing advice. On Tuesday, Rose, Emily Tangerine, and I took Emily to Beverly Center’s H&M to give her a wardrobe make over so we called that day, “Tangerine Tuesday”. This day gave me the opportunity to have my first style session. Emily has a very sweet style. Emily’s general wardrobe is quite conservative, but her personality is kind of the opposite (lol). She is goofy (in an adorable way), playful, and not afraid to say what is on her mind. So, I decided to go with a louder look for her.

So, I decided to go with a louder look for her.

This first look is Emily’s “Street Look”

She is wearing high-waisted jean shorts with a crop top that says “Game On”. The cap she is wearing has printed cassettes with “Beat Junkie” printed on the front. Her denim hoodie with cotton material sleeves has a lighter tone to it. It is important to be careful when pairing a denim jacket with jean shorts because there can be too much blue.

So, I decided to go with a louder look for her.

The second look is Emily’s “Rocker Look”

She is wearing a sleeveless dress with fringes, a leather jacket, and a statement necklace to complete the look. I love the fringes on the bottom of the dress because it gives more attention on the legs and gives an illusion of more height. Since the fringes take a lot of attention, I thought it was best to finish the look by tying up Emily’s hair. That way, there is a balance with the fringes.

After: Punk Rock Look

The last look was Emily’s favorite. She called it the “Rocker Princess Look”. Emily is wearing a gold sequenced dress with two slits in the front. She said she loved the slits because it flows nicely when she walks. The leather jacket adds a little boldness to the princess look which matches her girly yet spunky personality.
